Just So 2015

It's been nearly two weeks since I returned from volunteering at the wonderful madness that was Just So 2015 and I've still not got used to being back in the real world. The reality of commuter trains, smart clothes and household bills just doesn't quite have the same appeal as living in a field, dressing up as a mad fortune teller, and dancing to pirate music...not to mention the wonders of the David Attenborough song (it has now become my life's mission to make everyone on planet earth aware of this song).

Cliffs of Moher and The Burren

Hello Beautiful People!

I'm finally starting to sort my way through all the photos I took whilst I was volunteering in Northern Ireland over the summer. While I was over there, myself and the lovely Lisa spent a few days south of the border and managed to travel over to County Clare to visit the Cliffs of Moher and the Burren.

The Cliffs of Moher are a truly incredible sight (even on a miserable rainy day) reaching 214 metres (702ft) at their highest point, on a clear day you can see across to the Aran Islands in Galway Bay. The cliffs are home to thousands of birds (around 30,000 representing more than 20 species, according to my trust friend Wikipedia), including Atlantic Puffins, Hawks, Gulls and Guillemots. Some handy bits of trivia for you, the cliffs were used as filming locations for The Princess Bride and Harry Potter, as well as being where Dusty Springfield's ashes were scattered. See, you learn something new every day.

Knockengorroch World Ceilidh 2014

Hello Beautiful People!

The lovely Bethany and I got home from the Knochengorroch World Ceilidh 2014 nearly a week ago and I am yet to readjust to ‘normal’ society. My body is still in state of shock from 4 days of non-stop of dancing, festival food and next to no sleep. My back is still suffering from my thermorest dying on the first night, I’m still bearing the bruises from the Sunday afternoon Ceilidh (that Strip-the-Willow was pretty violent) and my brain is still trying to determine whether the insane journey in the back of a carpet van with 20 odd other soaking wet people plus luggage actually happened or not. But more on that later.

Edinburgh Escapades: Part 3

Hello Beautiful People,

After another morning of work, Kate and I decided it would be a crime to waste such a sunny day cooped up inside, so we headed out for a walk over Salisbury Crags.

Edinburgh Escapades - Part 2

Hello Beautiful People,

One of the many good things about visiting Kate during my reading week is the amount of work I get done. Whilst Kate is at uni, being busy with lectures and labs, I can crack on with my reading and essays.  Tuesday was an intense day of work as Kate was stuck in uni from 9 to 7! And people say students are lazy! I kept myself busy catching up with my online theory lectures, placement applications and a sunny walk around the Meadows at lunch time.

Edinburgh Escapades - Part 1

Hello Beautiful People!

My fabulous friend Kate is studying in the gorgeous city of Edinburgh and because I love them both lots, I try to visit as often as time and money will allow. Last week was my university reading week, so after a lovely weekend at home, I popped on a train and headed up to bonny Scotland. My Nana had been fancying a little trip to Edinburgh for a while, so she came along with me for the day.

We both have a vague knowledge of the city but not quite enough to find our own way around. So after checking my bag in at the station, we grabbed a couple of visitor maps, and doing our best lost tourist impressions, attempted to make our way to the National Museum of Scotland.

The museum is HUGE! You could easily spend a whole wandering around its lofty halls, looking at its numerous exhibitions. We started off with nosey around the ‘King of the Scots’ exhibition, complete with a cast of Queen Mary’s tomb.
