Cliffs of Moher and The Burren

Hello Beautiful People!

I'm finally starting to sort my way through all the photos I took whilst I was volunteering in Northern Ireland over the summer. While I was over there, myself and the lovely Lisa spent a few days south of the border and managed to travel over to County Clare to visit the Cliffs of Moher and the Burren.

The Cliffs of Moher are a truly incredible sight (even on a miserable rainy day) reaching 214 metres (702ft) at their highest point, on a clear day you can see across to the Aran Islands in Galway Bay. The cliffs are home to thousands of birds (around 30,000 representing more than 20 species, according to my trust friend Wikipedia), including Atlantic Puffins, Hawks, Gulls and Guillemots. Some handy bits of trivia for you, the cliffs were used as filming locations for The Princess Bride and Harry Potter, as well as being where Dusty Springfield's ashes were scattered. See, you learn something new every day.

The Burren is 250 square meters of seemingly never-ending limestone and is quite the sight to behold. On the blusterous day we visited it felt like you could be blown out to sea any minute. The Burren National Park is the smallest of Ireland's six national parks but is home to 3/4 of Ireland's flower species and is the main breeding sight for pine martins. I am full of useless facts today.
