LoveLula Beauty Box: September 2014

Hello Beautiful People,

I thought I'd try something a little different today.

Over the last few years subscription Beauty Boxes have become increasingly popular, so I thought I'd jump on the bandwagon a sign up to one.

I choose to go with LoveLula because they are advocates of natural and organic beauty and because none of the products they sell use Parabens, SLS's or animal testing, which are all huge pluses as far as I'm concerned.

The LoveLula monthly subscription box costs £12.50 (plus postage) and contains a selection of taster sized (and the occasional full sized) products available from the website. Alternatively, if you just want to try a one off box, you can by that month's box for £19.95.

The September box was a SOIL ASSOCIATION special in celebration of Organic Beauty Week.
(I know its now October but shush, just roll with it, we all know my upload schedule is non existant)

Skin Blossom - Facial Toner
Skin Blossom is a UK skin care company who make "safe, affordable & effective organic skin & hair care, because everyone is entitled to healthy, beautiful skin."1. Their antioxidant facial toner  is made with 97% organic ingredients, and claims to condition and purify the skin. It contains Witch Hazel to tone and tighten pores, Aloe Vera and Glycerin to condition and essential oils to revive the skin.

I've really been enjoying this toner. Witch Hazel works wonders on my skin, so this product is perfect for me. Its very light and refreshing so is really good as part of a morning routine, but is also brilliant for removing the last traces of make, making it a lovely addition to a evening routine.

I'm not massively keen on the smell of this product,  the mix of essential oils (Rose Geranium, Ylang Ylang and Lavender) is little bit too powerful for me. However, it doesn't leave any fragrance on the skin and it works so well, I'll definitely consider repurchasing once this bottle runs out.

Full Size Product - 150ml. Usual Price £5.95

Balm Balm - Little Miracle Rosehip Serum
Balm Balm are a 100% organic skincare company, specialising in lip balms, serums, oil and aromatherapy blends. All their products are certified by the Soil Association.

Little Miracle is a blend of rosehip, jojoba and borage oils, mixed with a plethora of essential oils that is meant to do wondrous things to your skin. I must confess, that I have no idea if this product actually works, because I haven't tried it yet. There are two things put me of using this. Firstly, I have no idea how you're supposed to go about applying this to your face, without getting everywhere...pipettes, liquid and my face, just seems to be a disaster waiting to happen! Secondly, this serum is so perfumed it genuinely makes me feel a bit light headed when I open it, and not in a good way!

Full Size 30ml. Usual Price £13.25

Bentley Organic - Moisturing Hand Sanitizier
Bentley are a British family brand and I was so happy to get this product! Over the summer months, festivals, camping and whatnot, mean I get through a lot of hand sanitizer, and although summer has now come to a close, this little beauty has a permanent home in my travel bag.

The sanitizer is 93% organic, claims to kill 99.9% of germs, is alcohol free, perfume free and paraben free. I love that its a foaming liquid rather than gel and that it doesnt have that awful alcohol smell that most sanitizers have. Its simply perfect.

Full Size 50ml. Usual Price £3.65

Herbfarmacy - Mallow Beauty Balm
Herbfarmacy produce a range of organic skin care products, containing ingredients grown on the marker's own fields, in Herefordshire. The Beauty Balm is 100% organic and fragrance fee.

The Mallow Beauty Balm is designed to soften and deeply moisturises the skin, leaving all lovely, smooth and protected, with the added bonus of containing oils with a natural anti-wrinkle effect. Herbfarmacy suggest the balm should be used in place of moisturiser or on any fine line for deep skin repair.

I've been using the balm as a nightly moisturiser and have really enjoyed doing so. It leaves my skin feeling baby soft and ready for bed! I would definitely recommend this one.

Taster Size 15g. Full Size 30g. Usual Prize £14.50

Pai Skincare - Exfoliator and Day Cream
Unfortunately I didn't get sent the exfoliator tester, I got two lots of the day cream instead. The exfoliator is supposed to be "Ultra-gentle, skin-softening and brightening" but I don't have one, so I can't tell you if it is.

The day cream however, I can tell you about. The cream itself is very light, hydrating and refreshing and leaves my skin feeling lovely. Unfortunately, I really don't like the fragrance. In the pot its very light and subtle and smells lovely, but once its on the skin, I personally find the fragrance way too strong, and feel like it lingers on the skin for a long time. Its a shame because I really like the cream, I just cant cope with the strength of the fragrance.

4ml Trial Size. Day Cream: Full Size 50ml. Usual Price £30.
Exfoliator: Full Size 50ml. Usual Price £20.

Essential Lip Care - Lip Silk
Essential Care are a Suffolk based family company whose products have therapeutic value. Their Lip Silk lip balm is 100% organic, natural and vegetarian. I'm really enjoying using this product, it has a lovely light citrus fragrance and shea butter makes it super nourishing. Definitely a handbag essential.

4.5g Full Size. Usual Price £5.50

So there you go, the LoveLula September Beauty Box. Hopefully, I'll  be making these reviews a monthly thing, if I can get my organised head screwed on.

Let me know what you thought and what beauty boxes you enjoy.
