Summer Projects 2014

Hello Beautiful People!

First of all, please accept my most humble and sincerest of apologies for my prolonged absence from the blogging world. It transpires that having all of your end of year assignments due in within a few days from each other, whilst working full time, doesn’t really leave much time for anything else.

But now uni is over and done with until September (someone remind why I have to pay three terms worth of fees) and I’m FREEEEEEEEEEEEE to frolic in the summer sun and top up my tan!

Wait, what’s that? I’m ginger and live in England?

Let me rephrase that.

I’m FREEEEEEEEEEEE - to get caught in torrential downpours and remain pasty white all year round…that doesn’t sound quite as fun really.

Despite the currently dismal and drear weather, and my eternally anaemic complexion, I do want to make the most of my summer home from uni and cram as many things as I can into the next few months. I’ve already got a few adventures planned and some interesting projects up my sleeve and want to use this blog as a way of sharing my escapades and getting you lovely people involved. So without further ado

(drum roll please)

SIOBHAN’S SUMMER PROJECTS!

TRAVELS
As I said, I’ve a few little adventures planned already. I heading back up to Edinburgh with le fame next week and possibly spending some more time up there whilst the Fringe Festival is on. At the end of May, I’m heading up to Scotland with my lovely friend Bethany for the Knockengorroch World Ceilidh. I’ve got some more festival plans in the pipeline, but Under The Stars Fest and Fairport’s Cropredy Convention are already on the calendar. There’s also a wee trip to London penciled in and possible a cheeky trip to Dublin on the cards.

THROUGH THE LENS
All these little expeditions mean my slightly bruised and battered camera is going to be a very busy little bee over the next few months. Whilst I don’t claim to be any sort of photographer (my editing ability barely stretches to picking Instagram filters), I thought it would nice to do something with all these photos, other than shoving them onto a USB to never see the light of day again. With this in mind I’m going to try putting together some ‘Through the Lens’ posts of my travels. These will basically just be photo collages, but I thought it would be something fun to have a play around with.

DIY BEAUTY
On a completely different tangent, I’ve recently become really interested in DIY beauty. A few months ago I decided to try going cruelty free with all my makeup and toiletries. It’s been relatively easy and nowhere near as expensive as I thought. Researching cruelty free products not only led me to discover a myriad of fabulous little beauty companies, but also introduced me to loads of recipes for natural, homemade alternatives to the heavily chemical based high-street products. I really want to try making some of these, so watch this space to find out how that goes.

BOOK REVIEWS
Books were the reason I started this blog. I’m the stereotypical Literature student and lose all coherence when faced with a pile of beautiful, unread books (don’t even get me started on arty endpapers). Unfortunately, because uni has been all sorts of crazy I haven’t had the chance to read anything other than set uni texts all year. Now I have some time on my hands, I want to get back into reading and hopefully writing some decent reviews.

BLOG MAKEOVER
All these new projects mean the Teeny Titch site is going to need a little bit of face lift. This might take a wee while as I have the computer knowhow of a giant squid (probably less actually). I’m going to rope my Dad in to help design a new header (he doesn’t know about this yet) and generally give the place a good spring clean.

INSTAGRAM
On a non-blog related note, I’m trying to make more regular use of my Instagram (which you can find here), so I thought  I’d leave you with a few snaps of what I’ve been up to since I’ve been home.
